British equipment manufacturer Starfrost is celebrating three decades at the forefront of technical innovation in freezing and chilling systems for the global food processing industry. Established in the UK in 1984, Starfrost is an international market leader in bespoke IQF (Individual Quick Freeze) equipment. To date Starfrost’s UK-based engineering team has worked alongside food manufacturers in more than 50 countries worldwide to develop custom designed IQF solutions. Starfrost’s 30th Anniversary coincides with a significant move for the Suffolk-based company. Starfrost has just relocated its UK headquarters and manufacturing base to a brand new, purpose built facility at Oulton Broad, near Lowestoft. At over 1,000 square metres, the waterside business premises at Craftsmans Way features office space and meeting rooms, as well as a large engineering workshop and equipment maintenance centre. With further space available on site for future expansion, the new facility looks set to provide Starfrost with an ideal base for many years to come. Starfrost Sales Director Rob Long says: “Our success over the past thirty years has been built on our commitment to developing bespoke equipment and pioneering advancements in IQF technology. Our new headquarters and manufacturing base will enable us to meet increasing demand from our growing customer base of food processors in the UK and worldwide.” Starfrost’s new headquarters also houses a fully equipped test facility which simulates different freezing and chilling processes. This allows Starfrost engineers to calculate the optimum conditions required for each food product, including ready meals, meat, poultry, pizza, fruit, vegetables, seafood, fish, desserts, bakery products and ice-cream. Robert Long adds: “We are dedicated to working closely alongside food manufacturers to develop the best IQF solution, whatever the food product. Our main aim is to ensure maximum throughput and efficiency, as well as low energy costs for our customers.” Starfrost’s bespoke freezing and chilling equipment is designed to offer food processors a cost effective and flexible solution. Increasing production, improving hygiene, boosting energy efficiency and offering maximum return on investment are all key aspects of the Starfrost service.
