The Role
A new opportunity has arisen for a Workshop Working Chargehand to join the Manufacturing team within freezing and chilling equipment manufacturer Starfrost. The successful candidate will report to the Workshop Manager.
The position will involve working to the completion of manufacturing tasks and provision of necessary support and coaching to workshop team and trainees on manufacturing activities, ensuring tasks are carried out to required standards.
You will possess a self-motivated, flexible approach and the ability to work and contribute effectively as part of a team.
Key Duties
- Ensure manufacturing team compliance with all Health, Safety & Quality guidance and other company procedures and practices.
- Effective completion of manufacturing tasks to meet workshop schedule
- Support workshop team with any troubleshooting or manufacturing issues
- Work with Workshop Manager to rectify day-to-day workshop challenges
- Liaise with other departments to resolve manufacturing issues
- Support a continuous improvement ethos within the manufacturing team
- Ensure minimal rework or waste
Responsibilities
Key duties include a range of responsibilities, which include but are not limited to;
People
- Embed ISO 9001/45001 Health, Safety & Quality standards and ensure compliance with all company procedures and standards
- Assist Workshop Manager with day-to-day running of the workshop
- Develop capability through coaching and mentoring across team
- Support engineers in good work practices and problem solving
- Monitor and motivate staff to be efficient and effective
- Liaise with other departments to resolve manufacturing issues
- Operate in line with company policies/processes and ensure adherence across the team
- Motivate team on continuous improvement ethos
Customers
- Provision of technical support and troubleshooting to improve workshop efficiency
- Work as part of a team to maintain efficient workflow through manufacturing to meet customer demand
Technology
- Support Workshop Manager to troubleshoot any challenges in workshop
- Encourage team engagement with company feedback forums to share knowledge and deliver continuous improvement
- Work as part of a team to maintain appropriate quality measures and seek continuous improvement in output
- Identify scope for improvement opportunities in systems and processes
- Ensure that the workshop housekeeping and operating practices are of a high standard and that tools and equipment are well maintained
Financial
- Ensure work is completed within contract timeline and to quality standards
- Work to minimise rework and ensure appropriate corrective action is taken promptly to avoid delays
- Assist with implementation of better working practices
