Senior Project Manager

The Team

Leading the Projects Team, the role will oversee a team of six, consisting of a site based Project Manager and five Project/Design Engineers.

The Role

Leading the Projects team you will be responsible for projects from handover to project completion, liaising with multiple departments, together with subcontractors and suppliers to deliver projects on time and budget. The role is challenging, suiting someone who is highly motivated and organised with strong communication skills. The right candidate will understand people and have a strong desire to develop the team and promote the core values that make Starfrost a friendly enjoyable place to work.

The role will require time to be spent in the office (Lowestoft) with visits to sites across the UK to support current projects. Once established in the position, the flexibility of hybrid working will be available.

Key Duties

The key duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Overall budget control for projects to ensure cost visibility with clear reporting and
  • Manage Project Engineering team to deliver projects to schedule and within budget targets
  • Oversee coordination of site resources in line with project plans
  • Ensure effective communication with subcontractors and suppliers for team to deliver successful, timely contractual start up
  • Working with Sales team to identify and resolve any lead time/cost increase challenges impacting projects
  • Liaising with production department to ensure smooth operations and processes
  • Ensure best practice and compliance of safety and quality standards
  • Act as the Starfrost Projects point of contact
  • Identify scope for product, process or operational improvement opportunities
  • Motivate and develop a team of competent, well rounded individuals and promote The Star Values.

The Candidate

The successful candidate must have:

  • Experience in a project management role, ideally within a similar type industry with a good engineering foundation
  • Experience of engaging with multiple stakeholders through to successful project delivery and managing practical working/project programmes & managing budgets
  • A demonstrated knowledge of working within a customer centric environment;
  • Experience of team leadership and development
  • Experience in similar company/team size without fully defined processes – experience of involvement in developing and implementing project management processes and tools
  • Recognise need to be involved in hands-on escalation & co-ordination to meet short lead times
  • Strong communication skills – alignment of message/visibility of progress/time & budget challenges and clarity of measures of success with all parties
  • High standards and a commitment to quality in all areas of the role;
  • A methodical approach to organisation and problem solving
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and demands on resources
