We are delighted to announce that we have recently been awarded the contract to supply Golden Bake with a state-of-the-art Helix double drum spiral freezer, which will be installed later this year. The new spiral freezer will be served by a 205 kW CO2 refrigeration plant at the Golden Bake site in Dublin, which will be supplied by Starfrost’s parent company, Star Refrigeration.
Golden Bake is renowned for producing Ireland’s most popular puff pastries, which are exported worldwide. In line with their expansion plans, they have constructed a dedicated extension within their production facility to accommodate a new production line. To support this growth, Starfrost, in collaboration with Star Refrigeration, will deliver a turnkey solution delivered by one supplier.
By investing in this new freezing technology and refrigeration plant, Golden Bake will be able to significantly enhance their production capacity. The Helix spiral freezer has been custom designed to fit seamlessly within the bakery’s facility, with a configuration of a low infeed and low outfeed conveyors placed parallel to each other on the same wall, this formation maximises space utilisation and eliminates the need for additional conveyors.
The Helix spiral freezer will feature an Intralox plastic friction drive belt, a lightweight alternative to metal belts. Intralox belts are renowned for their exceptional durability, reliability, and ease of maintenance and repair.
The CO2 refrigeration plant will also be equipped with a heat recovery system. Capturing and reusing heat energy that would otherwise be lost during the refrigeration process will allow Golden bake to pre-heat water for other operations within the facility.
With this advanced natural freezing solution, Golden Bake is well-positioned to meet their increasing production demands and maintain the high quality that their customers expect while contributing to environmental sustainability by reducing carbon emissions.
